What Is a Hair & Scalp Analysis?

A Hair & Scalp Analysis is the first step in understanding what your hair and scalp truly need. Using gentle, non-invasive tools, we take a closer look at your scalp health, hair density, growth patterns, and any areas of concern.

This is a calm, supportive appointment designed to give you clarity — not confusion — so you can move forward with confidence.

Why This Matters

When you’re experiencing shedding, breakage, thinning, or scalp discomfort, it can feel overwhelming trying to work out what’s going on.

A professional analysis removes the guesswork. Instead of trying product after product, you’ll receive clear, personalised guidance based on what’s actually happening with your hair and scalp.

Most women tell us they feel a sense of relief simply from understanding the “why” behind their concerns.

Who It’s For

This appointment is ideal for women who are:

  • noticing increased shedding or thinning
  • experiencing breakage or changes in hair texture
  • dealing with dryness, itchiness, or irritation on the scalp
  • navigating postpartum, perimenopause, or hormonal shifts
  • wanting a clearer understanding of their hair health before choosing a treatment
  • looking for expert guidance in a supportive, judgement-free environment

If you’ve been feeling unsure, frustrated, or stuck, this is the best place to start.

  • A Plan You Can Feel Confident About

You’ll walk away with a clear sense of what’s happening and the next steps that can genuinely support your hair health, without pushy sales tactics or unrealistic promises.

What We Assess

During your analysis, we take a close look at:

  • recent blood test markers related to hair growth and scalp health
  • dietary patterns that may influence hair health
  • scalp condition and sensitivity
  • hair density and growth patterns
  • levels of breakage or miniaturisation
  • hydration and oil balance
  • environmental or lifestyle factors that may be contributing
  • any changes related to hormones, stress, or life transitions

Everything is explained in simple, everyday language so you always know what we’re looking at – and why it matters.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Your appointment is calm, gentle, and completely focused on you.  We begin with a conversation about your concerns, your hair history, and how your hair has changed over time.

During this conversation, we also explore lifestyle factors such as diet, stress levels, recent illness, hormonal changes, supplements you may be taking, and any recent blood test results.

As a certified trichologist with advanced training, Cass is trained to interpret hair-relevant blood markers such as iron (ferritin), vitamin D, B12 and zinc, and explain how deficiencies may influence the hair growth cycle. Where appropriate, she may recommend evidence-based supplementation within safe, non-prescription ranges or suggest working alongside your GP for further testing.

From there, we use a magnifying tool to view the scalp and hair more closely. This process is painless and simply helps us understand what’s happening at the root level.

Throughout the appointment, you’re talked through each step so nothing feels surprising or uncomfortable.

How to Prepare

There’s nothing complicated to do beforehand. We simply recommend:

  • avoiding heavy styling products on the day
  • coming with clean, dry hair if possible
  • bringing any recent (3–6 months) blood test results
  • bringing a list of current supplements or medications
  • bringing a list of products you currently use (optional but helpful)

That’s it – no special routines or changes required.

What Happens After Your Appointment

Once we’ve completed your analysis, we’ll walk you through your results and outline the next steps that best support your goals. This may include:

  • possible recommendation for further blood tests or collaboration with your GP if required
  • evidence-informed supplementation where deficiencies are identified
  • a personalised treatment plan
  • recommendations tailored to your hair type and concerns
  • gentle lifestyle or care adjustments
  • follow-up appointments to monitor progress

You’ll leave with a clear direction, realistic expectations, and a plan you feel comfortable with – never pressured or overwhelmed.

Tricho Health Clinic brand mark — blush colourway

After my hairdresser expressed concern about how much hair I was losing, Cass kindly did an impromptu professional scalp check for me. She took the time to explain what was happening and what steps I needed to take, which immediately put my mind at ease. Cass is incredibly knowledgeable, calm and supportive, and I felt completely confident in her advice. I would highly recommend her to anyone dealing with hair loss or scalp concerns.
